Description
NSA Jail Evacuation Course AWR-183. The National Sheriffs’ Association (NSA) in conjunction with the U. S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) under DHS Grant 2008-GT-T8-K005 will be conducting a Jail Evacuation Planning and Implementation training class on January 13, 2010. I am writing to inform you of this class. The presentation is free and is open to all California law enforcement and emergency management agencies. A light breakfast and lunch will be served. The class will run from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.
The Jail Evacuation Planning and Implementation (AWR-183) presentation is designed to address the needs of small and large jails in rural and urban jurisdictions, preparing them to evacuate their facility in the event of a terrorist attack or other disastrous event. The program assists jail commanders and staff as they plan for the controlled but expedient departure of all staff, visitors and inmates from the jail to a secondary holding site. The curriculum is designed for jail administrators to develop procedures and plans which supports their efforts to defend any legal challenges and obtain whatever cost reimbursement funding that is available.
